It is chong fu pri school orientation today. Other than the usual stuffs like speech by the principal, dept head, Hokkien clan representative etc. They have put up some performances by the students.
3 things to share here are there was a 琵琶 performance by a student. The MC has boosted so much on her talent saying she has performed solely for the china embassy in Singapore before. However the weird part is I believed the girl has mastered the skill outside school program as she was the only one performing and she is of china nationality. If pi pa was coached in school, I bet they will have more students on stage playing the tune together. The 2nd thing is all girls are not allowed to keep long hair unless they are from the dance group. maybe I have lost touch with pri sch system but isnt neat and tidy more important. Thirdly, the school has consolidated one full set of extra lessons conducted by outside tutors on academic as well as non-academic lessons conducting on weekend. Is it really necessary and wat is the school education for ? Nonetheless we parents just have to accept it.
After the kids have toured the school, we can proceed to buy their school uniform and text books. I have spent $61 for 2 set of school uniform and PE attire, and $140 for textbooks. The box of books is heavy and of course lot of "unnecessary" stuffs like school logo preprinted plastic files.
