Charlie 4th Birthday (7 nov 10)

Charlie celebrated her birthday in school with a cake this year. So I wanted to do something different for the mini celebration at home. Instead we bought famous amos cookies and put candles at the plate for her birthday.
Charlie & yy busy squeezing as many cookies on the plate as possible. Do u notice the dora table cloth ? Charlie beaming from ear to ear with plate full of cookies. Parents have to put on the Dora hat too.

having fun at breakfast (7 nov 10)

Just decided to do something different for breakfast this morning. Got the kids to help out in making sandwiches with some cutter I got yearssss ago.

The shapes did not turn out well but we sure had fun.

first attempt on bicycle (5 -6 nov 10)

The bicycle was siting at home collecting dust for months. It did not occurs to me that charlie can ride on it till I saw a young boy riding one the other day. To our surprise, she managed to do it quite smoothly.

yy's school has been providing inline skate lesson (have to pay for it) for abt 1.5 mths. At the beginning, I asked frequently on his progress and realised that it was mainly safety rules like how to fall safely and nothing much was taught. Not realising that he managed to learn a trick or two and has gained more confident when he put on the pair of roller skate.

charlie's birthday celebration in school (2 nov 10)

Charlie's 4th birthday coming and we decorated the wall with her photo on it.

This is the first year Charlie attended school and her very first time to celebrate her birthday in school too. Bought a cake, goodies bags, party hats and plates for the celebration.

Her class of 20 kids but only 14 on that day. Luckily as this gp of 4 yrs old children sure can eat. The 1.5 kg cake was left with only 1/4 with some kids taking 3 servings.

Charlie was very fickle minded with the celebration in school. Up till the exact day morning, she was still changing her mind telling me that she dont want the hello kitty cake. However once her friends saw the Dora party plates, all the kids got so excited including herself. She sure enjoyed being the central of attraction for that 45 mins.

halloween party at Woodgrove (31 oct 10)

We attended the Halloween Street Out Party at Woodgrove private estate this year. It was simply crazy. Even before we reached, the road leading to it was already jam from far. It was quite a grand event when most of the houses decorated themselves and opened their door for all the little "witches" and "monsters" to drop in for treats or tricks. You can to see all sorts of weird costumes esp the older kids.

A family of cute little devils

bought the witch costumes from Daiso. Cheap and good.

Janice made her own tin-man helmet. Too bad, she still having exam next week so not enough time to make the body suit. While Charlie insisted on wearing her Cinderella dress despite I got her a witch wear too. Did u manage to see yy's horsey (paper horsey). The kids sure enjoyed themselves. Walking from house to house getting treats. As for the adults, we are always worried what if the little ones need to go toilet :P

Primary one SA 2 (2 nov 10)

Ding yuan DID it again. During his exam revision, he made me so angry that I abandoned him on the last 3 days before his paper 2. Got so annoyed when he did not do the revision I have written down for him. Giving excuses like I forget and too many to learn while he has time to do other things. I got so angry that I told him he was on his own this time. Resulting in …..on that critical 3 days, I think he must be the happiest kid in his whole class. While other children were rushing through revision books and revising on their mistakes. He was day dreaming at home. Whenever I asked him how his revision is, he told me he had finished his revision.

Yesterday the exam papers are back with a surprise. Not on the marks (we already knew last week), our dear boy actually COLORED on his exam paper (English SA 1 – essay writing). When I asked him who told him it is all right to color on his exam paper, he told me a teacher said so. It was a 30 min paper and the picture was actually very well colored. Can imagine how much time he spent coloring it DURING his exam. I’m really speechless I think I need to just send him to outside tuition where teacher will really discipline him.

Ps : I was even more surprised to hear from da yi yi that majority of the kids do that during exam. Some even went to the extend of drawing their own pictures to color. So I supposed yy was just like the other kids. It just happened that the others whom I talked to on this issue had angels at home.

charlie's spoken language (2 nov 10)

Charlie is picking up more mandarin now. In fact she has not much problem communicating with us and others who are used to her style of language and topic. Recently she is even correcting our speech for instances, she will remind us saying “cannot say LAH” and “cannot say STUPID, teacher Ramla said cannot say stupid. I will tell my teacher.”

She is also getting more comical too (unintentionally).

Like the other day, she and Kathleen was coloring and chatting.

Kathleen : I can move my leg
Charlie : of course, u not a statue.

When Charlie is sitting on her potty, I will try to engage in topic regarding her bowel. Purpose is to get her to pass po po in the morning.

Mommy : ask your bowel to hurry up …..
Charlie : don’t have
Mommy : big or small, brown or black, tell them to hurry up, walk faster.
Charlie : don’t have, my po po goes on holiday ……
