left or right hand ?(24 apr 10)

charlie tried the training chopstick today. surprising she is able to hold it well with her RIGHT hand. yes her right ! cos this training chopstick is for right handler so she cant use it with her left hand. But she is using abit too much strength to hold the chopstick so when she put the noodles into her mouth, she has problem taking the food into her mouth.

updates in school (23 apr 10)

I am more able to accept the fact that yy needs much more time to adapt to the new changes and responsibility thrown to him and all his “improper” behaviour in school and in his work. I just hope that he will outgrow all these soon and in the meantime, I just have to keep my fingers crossed.

Lost item (15 apr 10)

I can now official declared yy’s first lost item (or rather items) in school. They are his water bottle and lunch box. YY left them on the floor and went to participate in a game organized by the school, during his recess time. Infact this is not the first time he left his belonging on the floor, he does so everyday during recess so he can go and play with his classmates at the basketball court. He told me his friends will just leave the wallet on the table and go wash hands or put the dishes in the respective bucket.

What have yy been eating in School ?

I always pack lunchbox for yy’s recess break. It can be bread, cake, egg tart, steamed siew mai, biscuit or cornflake etc. However on every Tues, he will eat in school for his lunch after his CCA. These are what he has eat when he can make the choice himself (not 100% freedom)
23th mar – 30 cents biscuit
30th mar – 2 slices of prata (we have decided on this choice the day before)
8th apr – he cant related to me what is it from the western stall. But apparently it is not rice or noodle.
13th apr – eat half of the cake meant for his recess and left the other half for his recess break
20th apr – 60 cents fried rice (warned him the day before he can only eat rice or noodles)

Apparently he can go without a proper lunch and yet not hungry.

friction book (22 apr 10)

Today is the third time yy borrowed book from the series Little Animal Ark. Previously or rather now he is still picking up books with big pictures and little words. It has never occurs to me at all till I saw his friend, Da Jum, reading thicker book than this. I admit I am KS and panic so I tried hard to introduce yy to these type of book. Stress ! Actually I have no idea if the difficulty level of the story (5 fingers rule) is all right for him or not.

我要。。。。 (22 april 10)

Recently Charlie starts to hum songs at home. She will do it when she is playing on her own and she loves to hum when she is siting on her potty passing motion.

An interesting song but it seems to have only the "two" version and nothing more.

She is also showing “improvement” in her mandarin after attending her nursery class for 1 1/2 mths. She will sing the song 两只老虎 and also use the word “我要” very frequently in her conversion at home like 我要 watch TV, 我要 eat biscuit. So hilarious. Don’t get misunderstood that she is very well versed in her spoken mandarin. I got feedback from her Chinese teacher that she is not able to understand what is going on in class.

school mini assessment (11 apr 10)

Nowadays school is so different from our times. Other than homeworks and weekly spelling, there are mini assessments each term which are accounted in the final grades. Actually I'm not too sure how much is the % out of the total score but does not really matters.

For mother tongue, yy has to recite a short passage in class in march.

As for english subject, he has to recite any nursery rhyme in apr.

The kids are enjoying themselves during the practise at home and it is not too difficult but is it necessary. Next term, the whole school is going to the zoo for the mini assessment.

see how charlie gargles her mouth after brushing her teeth. Really funny seeing her enjoying doing it.
